SPMC Neurosurgical Training Program Secures PBNS Accreditation Renewal
SPMC Neurosurgeons Present Landmark Research at the 2025 World Congress of Neurosurgery in Dubai
December 5, 2025 – Dubai, UAE
The World Congress of Neurosurgery, the largest international gathering in the field, convened at the World Trade Center in Dubai from December 1–5, 2025, drawing experts, researchers, and clinicians from around the globe. Among the contributors was the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) Department of Neurosurgery, which showcased five innovative research studies during the congress.
Representing SPMC were Dr. Joselv Albano and Dr. Jose Nicanor Del Rosario, who delivered a series of presentations highlighting the department’s expanding academic footprint and commitment to advancing neurosurgical practice. A notable highlight was the duo’s first international presentation on their pioneering technique: a minimally-invasive transciliary fronto-orbitozygomatic approach proposed as a routine surgical route for all anterior communicating artery aneurysms. The novel method drew considerable interest for its potential to enhance surgical exposure while minimizing cosmetic and structural disruption.
The congress also celebrated the success of Dr. Anushree Bansal of Chandigarh, India—formerly an intern at SPMC Neurosurgery—who presented two research papers based on her clinical experience at the institution. Her contributions underscored SPMC’s role as a growing center for neurosurgical training and international collaboration.
SPMC’s strong presence at the World Congress of Neurosurgery reflects its ongoing commitment to high-level academic research, surgical innovation, and global engagement in the neurosurgical community.
