SPMC Neurosurgical Training Program Secures PBNS Accreditation Renewal
SPMC Neurosurgery OR Nursing Team Strengthens Technical Skills Through Hands-On Drill Workshop
The SPMC Neurosurgery Operating Room Nursing Team participated in a one-day hands-on neurosurgical drill workshop on November 13, 2025, focusing on the setup, care, use, and maintenance of neurosurgical drills and the integrated power console, vital tools in the neurosurgery operating room.
The training was conducted by Mr. John Ezekiel Dela Cruz, a representative from Medtronic, who provided in-depth guidance on proper equipment handling, troubleshooting, safety precautions, and best practices in the use of neurosurgical power systems.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the technical competencies and confidence of the OR nursing team in managing essential neurosurgical equipment. By improving familiarity with drill systems and their integrated consoles, the training supports safer, more efficient, and more coordinated neurosurgical procedures at Southern Philippines Medical Center.
The workshop was attended by members of the SPMC Neurosurgery OR Nursing Team: Janelle Althea Ortega, Gabrielle Jovan Salazar, Kerry Joy Rosario, James Mangcal, Ivony Tajolosa, and Niño Lobaton.
SPMC Neurosurgery extends its appreciation to Medtronic for its continued partnership and support in advancing neurosurgical training. The department also commends its dedicated nursing staff for their enthusiasm, commitment to continuous learning, and pursuit of excellence in neurosurgical care.
